Over the last 4 years, in an attempt to improve driving standards and reduce vehicle accidents, P N Daly have focused on improving driver behaviours. The first stage of the improvement plan was to focus on vehicle telematics to highlight any high risk drivers with the second stage then focusing on driver training.
In the past we have mainly been reactive in this aspect where drivers were put through training following issues such as repeat accidents or poor driver behaviour scores. 12 months ago, P N Daly signed up to implement Drive IQ which was a change of direction as the training is proactive with all drivers of company vehicles put onto the system.
The ability to have drivers complete the short training modules across regular intervals of the year ensures the training stays ‘front of mind’ and the format of the training (video or document, followed by questions) has ensured that the training modules are completed thoroughly which gives us maximum benefit. The employee progress and individual module scores are all reportable which allows us to analyse which driver possibly needs further attention as well as those that may be behind on their training.
Regular communication via the Drive IQ app is another positive with messaging tailored to the company requirements.
Drive IQ team have also been a great help and are always on hand to offer support and ongoing training.
This driver training is definitely something I would recommend to any other company looking at driver performance and training.
